Detailed Itinerary

What to expect – 1 Day Jinja City tour – Sezibwa falls and Mabira forest Uganda: Itinerary 

7 am; meet your private guide at your hotel. Transfer by private car heading to Jinja City, eastern Uganda.

Pass by Namugongo Martyrs shrine and Museum, probably Africa’s most important place of Christian pilgrimage.

Stop at Sezibwa falls; this nice little stop on the way to Jinja city tour, is hidden by the sugar plantations. After 50 minutes on the Kampala-Jinja highway is Kayanja trading center turn right onto a murram road and drive for another 1.5 km before you reach the falls. 

Sezibwa means ‘it can’t be blocked’, an amazing cultural site with a lot to see and do for nature lovers. Learn about this legend involving twins and its cultural significance for the local Buganda kingdom.
Enjoy an hour sightseeing walk giving you a chance to learn about the many tree species surrounding area. 20 butterfly species to be seen here.

With 135 bird species in the area, it a bird lover’s paradise for those who enjoy bird watching. The birds that can be seen include the Mourning Dove, African Harrier Hawk, African Pied Wagtail, Mouse birds and Sunbirds. Duration; 1 hour

Mabira forest is one of the remaining tropical forest closer to Kampala, fully regulated as a forest since 1932.  Local guides will share amazing knowledge on unique fauna and flora, learn how close to 70% of oxygen in greater Kampala City is supplied largely by Mabira forest. This is a tropical Paradise! Walk in the forest and enjoy some fresh cool breath or have lunch at forest lodge or a highway restaurant. Mabira forest is the home of nature. You will be fascinated to hear songs of different bird species, enjoy crickets sing all the away!

The friendly people around the forest who are naturally welcoming, grow a lot of fruits; from tasty bananas, avocadoes, mangoes to fresh jackfruit. If you love eating organic fruits, on a road trip to jinja remind your driver guide to stop for organic natural fruits of your choice.

Stop at Jinja source of Nile gardens, take a boat ride to the actual source where the might Nile starts a 3 months journey to Mediterranean Sea in Egypt.

Finish your day with shopping a souvenir for your family and friends. Later transfer back to Kampala/ Entebbe.
