Gorilla Safaris tours: Gorilla trekking is one of Africa’s ultimate wildlife experiences. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National is home to half of the world’s mountain gorillas. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is also another park where one can see these gentle giants.

Chigo Tours Africa offers both short and long gorilla trekking safaris in Uganda and Rwanda. Depending on your schedule and travel preferences, a Gorilla safari tour may begin and end either in Entebbe (Uganda) or Kigali (Rwanda). For those who prefer short tours, a gorilla tour starting and ending in Kigali City is recommended.
Note that currently, there are 19 mountain gorilla families habituated for viewing. The maximum number of people per gorilla family is 8. When a ranger spots a gorilla family, the maximum time for viewing is strictly 1 hour. Mountain gorillas are susceptible to human diseases, hence the need to limit human-gorilla proximity.
Gorilla Safaris tours - treks begin from four different points (gates) in Bwindi. These are: Buhoma, Ruhija, Nkuringo and Rushaga. Registration and briefing prior to the trek begins at 0730hrs with general briefing conducted at 0800hrs. Passport is mandatory at registration.
Gorilla tracking starts at 0830hrs and can last from a few hours to a whole day depending on where the gorilla family was left the previous day.
How difficult is gorilla trekking? Gorilla trekking can be challenging and one needs to be reasonably fit before undertaking to venture into the activity. But the tracking is a captive and unforgettable experience which more than repays the effort needed to trek through the thick forest.
