Akagera National Nark
Seventy-five kilometers East of Kigali, Akagera National park is dominated by labyrinth of hippo-filled swamps and crocodile patrolled lakes. In 2015 lions were reintroduced, in 2017 black rhinos followed. Wildlife numbers have grown to almost 12,000. Across its savannah, plains are impalas, giraffes while predators include lions, jackals, leopards and hyenas, making akagera one of the best parks to go on an African safari away from crowds. As for the birds, this stunning realm offers 525 species including 40 raptors.
