Day 1
Touring Kampala

What to expect –  Kampala City Tour Sightseeing – Half Day

8.00 am; Meet your private guide at your hotel, and head out sightseeing. Enjoy viewing of Kampala City.

Stop at the Independence Monument. Duration: 10 minutes.

Pass by Parliament of Uganda, National Theatre,

Stop at the craft market allowing 15 minutes. Continue viewing, Buganda Kings Lake and Kings’s Palace. Enjoy great views of the city.

Pass by Buganda Kingdom parliament – ‘Bulange’ and Kings palace – ‘Lubiri’. Buganda is one ancient traditional kingdom in eastern and central Africa.  At Lubiri is a chance to see former president Amin’s prison – and get firsthand experience of Amin’s torture chambers.

Duration: 1 hour

Pass by ‘Nantaweta’ junction, a ‘drive through ‘ only used by the King of Buganda,

proceed to Rubaga Cathedral – one of the oldest churches whose glass windows have unique writings of the ‘Uganda martyrs’, a spot where the king of Buganda wrote a letter inviting missionaries to Uganda.

Pass by Old Kampala National mosque, one of the city’s most spectacular pillars in the Centre of Kampala; where the history of Kampala began.

Pass by Namirembe Cathedral the oldest cathedral in Uganda.

Stop at Kasubi tombs.

Continue the day with a walking tour of Kasubi tombs – established in 1880,  where royals of the Buganda kingdom are buried, it’s one of the remaining green compounds, a burial ground for the previous four kings of Bungada ‘Kabakas’, which makes it a very important centre for the royal family, a place where the Kabaka and his representatives frequently carry out important rituals related to the Ganda culture. Duration: 1 hour.

Pass by Uganda Museum: the oldest museum in the country showcasing cultural and ancient collections, history and natural history of Uganda.

Pickup point 

Traveller pickup is offered – We will pick you up from any hotel or apartment in Kampala or Entebbe. Please make sure to include the address of your accommodation when booking.

Pick-up time will be 8 am and 2 pm. We will send a message 24 hours before departure by email, WhatsApp or text message to inform you of the specific pick-up time at your hotel as well as the name of your guide and the telephone number. Please note that if your hotel is in the outskirts of the city or further away our guide may come earlier to beat traffic.
