This is the only route which offers sleeping huts in dormitory-style accommodations in lieu of camping. There are 60 bunk beds each at Mandara and Kibo Huts, and 120 bunk beds at Horombo Hut. Guests are supplied with mattresses and pillows, but sleeping bags are still required. The huts have communal dining halls and basic washrooms, ranging from flushing toilets and running water at the lower huts to long drop toilets and buckets of water at Kibo Hut.

Kilimanjaro Climbing Safari via Marangu
Arrival at Kilimanjaro airport and transfer to Moshi Town. pre climbing orientation with guides and checking equipment. Overnight: Park view Inn Kirimajaro or Keys Hotel

Habitat: Rain Forest
Transfer to Marangu gate and spend around two hours for registration, payments of fees and final parking. Start climbing through dense semi-tropical to the first hut – Mandara hut (8,858ft)/ 2720m. Each hut features 6 to 8 sleeping beds with solar generated lighting. The total capacity of the camp is 60 climbers. Water is piped into the camp from springs above and there are flushing toilets.

Early morning breakfast and later ascend through the grassland and moorland heath to Horombo hut (12,000ft). Both Mawenzi and Kibo peaks can be viewed easily on the way. On a clear day, Kibo Peak will glimmer in the distance, showing off her majestic glaciers in the morning sun.

Have breakfast and further ascend to Kibo hut (15,430 ft / 4700M). The landscape becomes very stony and eroded. Spectacular mountain vegetation like giant cactus, groundswell, and lobelia appear on the way. Dinner and an overnight at Kibo hut. (Breakfast, Lunch Dinner)

Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut

Habitat: Heath
Wake up at midnight, and after a snack and tea, proceed to the summit through Gilman’s point (18,640ft). It is about 5-6 hours and 1-2 hours from Kibo hut to Gilman’s point and from Gilman’s Point to Uhuru Peak (19,341ft /5895M) respectively. You will reach the Mountain peak in the morning of the 5th day and After taking photos we start to descend to our base camp, Kibo Hut (2 to 3 hours walk). We reach the camp, where we will have a rest and a good lunch. After lunch we descend to Horombo Hut (about 3 to 4 hours). (Breakfast, Lunch Dinner)

On our last day, we have a long trek mostly downhill through the tropical rain forest. Once at the park headquarters at Marangu gate, we collect our summit certificates. The waiting car will take you to Moshi / Arusha, for your one night relaxation.
